Joblumi vs JobStep: several countries or Germany, subscription or pass
JobStep and Joblumi cover similar steps: a CV with a score, versions for each job, cover letters and a place to track applications. The two questions that set them apart are simple. Do you apply in one country or in several? And do you want a plan that renews, or one that ends by itself?
This page goes through both questions with facts from JobStep's own pages and ours, then puts the costs for 3 and 6 months side by side.
One country or several
JobStep's FAQ says CVs differ by country, for example Germany, the USA and Switzerland, and that it adapts structure and details to the country. Its website is available in several languages, English and German among them. If you apply in Zurich, Vienna and Berlin in the same month, a tool built for several countries saves you from switching tools.
Joblumi is built for Germany only, and goes into detail on it:
- CV: tabular layout (tabellarischer Lebenslauf), newest first, dates as MM/YYYY, photo optional, language levels on the CEFR scale (A1 to C2).
- Cover letter: German business letter layout DIN 5008, written for the job ad you saved.
- Language: the app works in English and German, and the German rules are explained in English. With a pass, Joblumi translates your CV and letters between English and German.
- (G)ATS Score: our CV score for applicant tracking systems used by employers in Germany, with all findings and fixes on the free plan.

What 3 and 6 months cost
JobStep shows its quarterly plan as €9.95 a month, so the 3-month figures below are our own calculation. Three months and 90 days are close, but not the same length.
| Period | Joblumi | JobStep |
|---|---|---|
| About 3 months | €34.90 (one 90-day pass) | €29.85 (quarterly plan, 3 × €9.95, calculated) |
| About 3 months, paid month by month | €44.70 (three 30-day passes, calculated) | €74.85 (monthly plan, 3 × €24.95, calculated) |
| About 6 months | €69.80 (two 90-day passes, calculated) | €59.70 (two quarterly terms, calculated) |
| 1 month | €14.90 (30-day pass) | €24.95 (monthly plan) |
For three or six months the JobStep quarterly plan costs less (€5.05 less for three months, calculated). For one month, or for three months paid month by month, the Joblumi pass costs less. The other difference is what happens at the end: the JobStep plan continues until you cancel, the Joblumi pass stops.
Renewal, cancellation and refunds over time
JobStep. Its terms say the subscription renews automatically and continues until you end it, and you must cancel before it renews to avoid the next payment (section 8). You cancel in your dashboard: log in, open "Billing" in the user menu, and manage or cancel the plan there. Its refund policy offers a full refund within 7 days of the first subscription purchase if you have not used premium features. Downloading a CV or a tailored document, or tracking more than 10 jobs, counts as use. Refunds apply only to the first payment, not to renewals. You ask by email to help@jobstep.io (refund policy, retrieved 31 Oct 2026).
Joblumi. There is no renewal and nothing to cancel. Within 14 days of buying a pass you can get the full price back under our voluntary promise, even if you have used the pass, once per account and payment method. You do this in the app on the Pass page. When the pass ends, your account goes back to the free plan and your documents stay.
A short checklist if you choose a subscription: note the renewal date in your calendar, check the cancellation step once at the start, and keep the confirmation email.
When JobStep is the better choice
- You apply in several countries, not only Germany, and want one tool for all of them.
- You want the website in a language other than English or German.
- You want weekly job suggestions with a match score. Joblumi doesn't suggest jobs.
- You want a job tracker on the free plan.
When Joblumi is the better choice
- You apply only in Germany and want the German CV and cover letter conventions explained in English.
- You want a German version of your English CV and letters (with a pass).
- You don't want a subscription or a renewal date to watch. A Joblumi pass is paid once and ends by itself.
- You want to practise assessment tests and interviews in the same app.
