All people, companies and numbers in these examples are made up. The examples follow the format German career services describe: a two-column table, newest entries first, one to two pages (LMU Career Service), each language with its level (KIT Career Service, retrieved 30 Oct 2026). Dates are written as month and year, and every gap of more than three months has its own line, as the (G)ATS Score (German ATS Score: how well your CV meets German CV rules and can be read by applicant software) asks.

Tech, data and design

Arjun Mehta, Data Scientist

Arjun MehtaData ScientistStart from this example

Arjun works in logistics in Dortmund. Before that he spent three years in retail tech and data analysis in Pune.

Profile: Data scientist with 6 years of experience in logistics and retail, 3 of them in Germany. My forecasting model cut warehouse stockouts at my current employer by 18 %. Looking for a role where machine learning feeds directly into operational decisions.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The six months from 03/2023 to 08/2023 have their own line: full-time German classes, passed at B1. A gap of more than three months is explained instead of left open.
  2. Every bullet ends in a result with a number, for example stockouts down 18 % and monthly reporting cut from 2 days to 3 hours.
  3. The Indian grade stays in its own scale (CGPA 8.4/10), with a rough German equivalent next to it, so nobody has to guess.

Start from this example

Tunde Adeyemi, Data Engineer

Tunde AdeyemiData EngineerStart from this example

Tunde builds data platforms for an e-scooter company in Berlin. He started in fintech in Lagos.

Profile: Data engineer with 6 years of experience in payments and mobility, including 3.5 years in Berlin. Rebuilt my employer’s central data platform on dbt and Airflow and cut cloud costs by 31 % along the way. Looking for a role where I own data products from source to dashboard.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The results are concrete: the nightly data load fell from 5 hours to 70 minutes, and annual cloud costs fell by 31 %.
  2. German is listed honestly at B1, backed by a Goethe exam. An honest level tells the employer what to expect in meetings.
  3. Skills are plain words (Airflow, dbt, Spark, Kafka), not bars or stars. CV parsers read text more reliably than charts (KIT).

Start from this example

Chen Wei, Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Chen WeiSenior Software Engineer (Backend)Start from this example

Chen owns the booking service at a mobility company in Munich. He worked in Shanghai and Singapore before.

Profile: Backend engineer with 8 years of experience building payment and mobility platforms in Shanghai, Singapore and Munich. I lowered API latency at my current company by 40 % while traffic doubled. Looking for a senior or staff role with ownership of core services.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The main result has its context: p95 latency fell from 420 ms to 250 ms while requests doubled to 3 million a day.
  2. Three jobs in eight years, newest first, each with month and year. The reader sees at once how long each job lasted.
  3. Both degrees keep their original grade with the scale (GPA 3.7/4.0), so nothing is converted wrongly.

Start from this example

Priya Sharma, UX Designer

Priya SharmaUX DesignerStart from this example

Priya designs a payment app for small businesses in Berlin. She learned the craft at an agency in India.

Profile: UX designer with 5 years of experience in agency work and fintech. At my current company I redesigned the onboarding flow and raised completed sign-ups by 23 %. Looking for a product team where research and design decisions are measured.

Why this works in Germany

  1. Design work is shown as results: completed sign-ups up 23 % in 6 months, cart abandonment down from 71 % to 63 %.
  2. The two roles at the same agency each have their own dates, newest first, so the step from junior to UX designer is easy to see.
  3. German B1 with a telc exam is stated plainly. For an English-speaking product team, that level is useful information, not a weakness.

Start from this example

Aditi Kulkarni, Data Science Graduate

Aditi KulkarniData Science GraduateStart from this example

Aditi came from Pune to Darmstadt for her master’s in data science. Her German work experience is a working student job and an internship.

Profile: Data science graduate from Darmstadt with 1.5 years as a working student in data analytics and a 6-month machine learning internship, which became my master’s thesis. As a working student I built a dashboard that cut the time to find faults in the network report from 2 days to 3 hours. Looking for a first full-time role as a junior data analyst or data scientist in the Rhine-Main area.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The working student job and the internship are listed as work experience, each with what she did and a result (Welcome Center RLP). The hours (16 a week during term) show how much she worked.
  2. The master’s thesis was written at the internship company. It appears with its topic and grade, so it counts as experience in the field.
  3. The three months between bachelor’s and master’s have their own line: the move to Germany and a German course.

Engineering and science

Kwame Mensah, Mechanical Design Engineer

Kwame MensahMechanical Design EngineerStart from this example

Kwame designs chassis parts at an automotive supplier near Stuttgart. He did his master’s degree alongside a working student job there.

Profile: Mechanical design engineer with about 4 years of professional experience, 2.5 of them in chassis design at an automotive supplier. Redesigned a control arm to be 14 % lighter and 2.10 euros cheaper per part, in series production since 2025. Looking for a product development role with ownership of my own assemblies.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The key result has numbers an engineer can check: 14 % lighter and 2.10 euros cheaper at 180,000 parts a year.
  2. The working student job (16 hours per week) sits in the work experience, not hidden in education, and the thesis written at the company is named there.
  3. Two grading systems, each explained: 1.6 on the German scale, and “First Class” with a note that it is the highest class in Ghana.

Start from this example

Rafael Souza, Electrical Engineer, Power Systems

Rafael SouzaElectrical Engineer, Power SystemsStart from this example

Rafael connects solar parks and battery storage to the grid in Baden-Württemberg. He started in substations in São Paulo.

Profile: Electrical engineer with 7 years of experience in substations and grid connections, including 4 years in Baden-Württemberg. As project engineer I brought 14 grid connections for solar and battery storage with a combined 186 MW into operation on schedule. Looking for a role with technical project responsibility for the energy transition in the distribution grid.

Why this works in Germany

  1. Eight months from 10/2021 to 05/2022 have their own line: full-time German to B2 and training on the German grid connection standard VDE-AR-N 4110.
  2. The numbers are honest: 14 grid connections with 186 MW, 12 of them on the agreed date.
  3. The Brazilian degree is explained (“comparable to a BSc”) and the grade stays in its scale, 8.4 out of 10.

Start from this example

Dr. Lin Yue, Polymer Chemist

Dr. Lin YuePolymer ChemistStart from this example

Lin leads a polymer lab in Leverkusen. She did her doctorate in Münster after studying in Shanghai.

Profile: Polymer chemist with a PhD and 10 years of research experience, including 4.5 years in industrial R&D for coatings and adhesives. Took a bio-based polyurethane binder from lab scale to a 2-tonne pilot batch; it launched in 2025 and generated EUR 2.8m in its first year. Looking for a project or group lead role in materials development.

Why this works in Germany

  1. Research is tied to a business result: the binder launched in 2025 and made EUR 2.8m in its first year.
  2. The Chinese grades stay in their scale (GPA 3.7/4.0), with an approximate German grade next to them.
  3. German C1 is backed by a TestDaF result in all four sections, which makes the level easy to believe.

Healthcare and hospitality

Ananya Reddy, Registered Nurse

Ananya ReddyRegistered NurseStart from this example

Ananya works on an internal medicine ward in Hannover. She trained and worked in cardiology in India.

Profile: Registered nurse with 4 years of experience in cardiology and internal medicine, almost 2 of them on a ward in Hannover. Reorganised fall prevention on my ward; the number of falls dropped by a third in the first year. Looking for a position on an internal medicine or cardiology ward with the option to train as a practice instructor.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The adaptation programme (Anpassungslehrgang) from 04/2024 to 11/2024 has its own entry with 260 hours of theory, 850 hours of placements and the exam passed. The time between India and Hannover leaves no gap.
  2. Ward work is shown as a result: falls down from 21 to 14 in the first year.
  3. German B2 comes with a nursing-specific telc exam, the level a ward manager wants to see.

Start from this example

Sofia Martínez, Registered Nurse, Intensive Care

Sofia MartínezRegistered Nurse, Intensive CareStart from this example

Sofia works in intensive care in Cologne and mentors nursing trainees. She trained in Valencia.

Profile: Registered nurse with 7 years of experience, 6 of them in intensive care units in Valencia and Cologne, with specialist training in intensive care and anaesthesia. Introduced delirium screening on my unit, now documented for 92 % of all patients. Looking for a position with responsibility for clinical mentoring or shift leadership.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The adaptation programme 02/2021 to 10/2021 is listed like a job, ending with recognition as Pflegefachfrau. The German job title names the recognised qualification.
  2. A clear result: documented delirium screenings up from 58 % to 92 %.
  3. The Spanish grade stays in its scale, 8.1 out of 10, with a note on how the scale works.

Maria Santos, Front Office Supervisor

Maria SantosFront Office SupervisorStart from this example

Maria leads the front desk team of a 4-star hotel in Munich. She worked in hotels in Manila and Dubai before.

Profile: Front office professional with 6 years in 4- and 5-star hotels in Manila, Dubai and Munich. As supervisor in Munich I lead a team of 9 and raised the hotel’s guest rating for check-in from 8.4 to 9.1 within a year. Looking for a front office or guest relations role with team responsibility in a full-service hotel.

Why this works in Germany

  1. Team size and hotel size show the level of responsibility at a glance: 9 people across 3 shifts, 212 rooms.
  2. Guest service is measured: check-in rating up from 8.4 to 9.1 out of 10, upgrade revenue at the desk up 23 %.
  3. The four months from 09/2024 to 12/2024 have their own line, full-time German classes up to B1, so there is no gap.

Business, finance and HR

Lea Hoffmann, Business Graduate

Lea HoffmannBusiness GraduateStart from this example

Lea finished her business degree in Cologne in 2026 and is looking for her first full-time job in controlling.

Profile: Business graduate with almost 2 years of controlling experience alongside my degree and 2 internships in marketing and sales. As a working student I automated the monthly cost centre report for 34 cost centres, saving 1.5 working days a month. Looking to start as a junior controller or business analyst in Cologne or Düsseldorf.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The working student job is in the work experience with its hours (16 a week during term) and a result: 1.5 working days saved each month.
  2. Each internship has a short description of what she did, such as a newsletter test that raised the open rate from 21 % to 29 % (Welcome Center RLP).
  3. The thesis is named with its topic and grade (1.3). At this stage it is the closest thing to work experience in the field.

Start from this example

Mei Zhang, Financial Analyst

Mei ZhangFinancial AnalystStart from this example

Mei works in controlling at a private bank in Frankfurt. She started in audit in Hong Kong.

Profile: Financial analyst with 4 years of experience in audit and bank controlling. At my current employer I shortened the monthly close in cost controlling from 8 to 5 working days. Looking for a role in financial planning and analysis close to senior management.

Why this works in Germany

  1. Results a finance team understands: monthly close cut from 8 to 5 working days, forecast for a 140 million euro budget within 2 % of actuals.
  2. The six months from 09/2023 to 02/2024 have their own line: German classes up to B2, and CFA Level II passed before the move.
  3. Four languages, each with its level, from native Cantonese to German C1.

Start from this example

Elif Yılmaz, Certified Accountant (IHK)

Elif YılmazCertified Accountant (IHK)Start from this example

Elif runs the monthly and annual closings for three companies in a trading group in Düsseldorf. She trained in a tax office.

Profile: Certified accountant (Bilanzbuchhalterin IHK) with 8 years in tax advisory and in-house accounting. Since 2023 responsible for monthly and annual closings of 3 entities in a trading group. Cut the monthly close from 12 to 6 working days and led the finance side of the move to SAP S/4HANA. Looking for a role with more responsibility in group reporting or as accounting team lead.

Why this works in Germany

  1. Results with numbers: monthly close from 12 to 6 working days, 3 statutory audits with no audit adjustments.
  2. Education is listed newest first, from the IHK qualification back to the Fachhochschulreife, each with month and year.
  3. The German grades (1.9, 2.1) need no explanation, because German readers know the scale.

Start from this example

Leila Haddad, HR Business Partner

Leila HaddadHR Business PartnerStart from this example

Leila supports 260 employees in sales and supply chain at a consumer brand in Düsseldorf. She worked in HR in Beirut and Paris.

Profile: HR Business Partner with six years in HR in Beirut, Paris and Düsseldorf, currently supporting 260 employees in sales and supply chain. Cut time to hire for sales roles from 58 to 41 days and led the works council talks on our hybrid work agreement. Looking for a senior HRBP role with a larger client group.

Why this works in Germany

  1. HR work is measured: time to hire down from 58 to 41 days, development reviews completed up from 61 % to 94 %.
  2. The French grade stays as it is, 15.4 out of 20 (mention bien), with the scale explained.
  3. Each of the four languages has a level, and two are backed by an exam: German B2 (Goethe), English C1 (IELTS 7.5).

Jan Becker, Senior Strategy Consultant

Jan BeckerSenior Strategy ConsultantStart from this example

Jan is a strategy consultant in Munich with an MBA from France. This is the one example without a photo.

Profile: Strategy consultant with 7 years of project experience in industrials and consumer goods and an MBA from France. In a post-merger integration for an industrial group with EUR 1.2bn revenue, identified EUR 38m in synergies, of which EUR 31m are already realised. Looking for the next step to engagement manager or a role in corporate strategy.

Why this works in Germany

  1. No photo, and nothing is missing. A photo is optional in Germany (LMU).
  2. The MBA year (08/2022 to 07/2023) fits between two consulting jobs. With month and year on every entry, the reader sees there is no gap.
  3. Project results in euros: EUR 38m in synergies found, EUR 31m already realised.

Camila Rodríguez, Learning and Development Specialist (career change)

Camila RodríguezLearning and Development SpecialistStart from this example

Camila taught maths in Bogotá for seven years. In Hamburg she moved into corporate training.

Profile: Former maths teacher with 7 years in the classroom, now in corporate learning and development in Hamburg. Taught 5 classes a year, trained 9 new teachers and finished further training in instructional design and e-learning in Germany. In my current part-time role I rebuilt the onboarding course for warehouse staff; new staff now finish it in 3 days instead of 5. Looking for a full-time role in training or onboarding.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The headline names the new field and the career change in one line, so the teaching years read as a strength, not as a different job.
  2. The teaching bullets are the skills that carry over: training 9 new teachers, building a course, raising a pass rate.
  3. The further training and the German course each have their own line with dates, so there is no gap between 2024 and today.

Leadership

Lukas Novák, Logistics Team Lead

Lukas NovákLogistics Team Lead (Warehouse and Transport)Start from this example

Lukas leads warehouse and transport at a distribution centre in Nuremberg. He started as a dispatcher in Prague.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The size of the job is clear at once: 4 shift supervisors, 48 employees, 22,000 m² of warehouse space.
  2. Results in the numbers a logistics manager tracks: picking errors from 0.41 % to 0.15 %, on-time in-full delivery from 93.5 % to 98.2 %.
  3. The Czech grade (1.6) comes with its scale, 1 to 4 with 1 as the top grade, so it is not mistaken for a German 1.6.

  1. Team size and budget show the level of responsibility at a glance: 9 people, 4.5 million euros a year.

  3. German B2 is backed by a Goethe exam, and French is listed honestly at A2.

Rohan leads checkout and payments at an e-commerce company in Berlin. He spent his first four years as a software engineer in India.

Profile: Product leader with 11 years in e-commerce and fintech, 4 of them as a software engineer and 5 in Berlin. I lead 4 product managers and 5 engineering teams; our new checkout raised conversion by 2.4 percentage points, worth about EUR 18 million in additional annual GMV. Looking for a Head of Product or Group Product Manager role in commerce or payments.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The profile explains the move from engineering to product in one sentence, before the reader has to guess.
  2. One result with its business value: conversion from 61.2 % to 63.6 %, about EUR 18 million more GMV a year.
  3. The Indian grade stays as it is (First Class with Distinction), with an approximate German grade next to it.

Start from this example

Wanjiru Kamau, Head of Operations

Wanjiru KamauHead of OperationsStart from this example

Wanjiru runs all operations at a payment service provider in Frankfurt. She worked in payments in Nairobi and London.

Profile: Operations leader with 14 years in payments across Nairobi, London and Frankfurt. Since 2022 responsible for all operations of a payment service provider with 42 staff. Cut merchant onboarding from 9 to 3 days and raised straight-through processing to 95 %. Looking for a COO or Head of Operations role at a regulated fintech or bank.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The scope is clear: 5 teams, 42 staff and a EUR 6m budget.
  2. Results that matter to a regulated business: onboarding from 9 to 3 working days, two external audits with no material findings.
  3. German is listed honestly at B1 with a telc exam, even at this level of seniority. The employer knows what to expect.

Zhang Hao, Head of Supply Chain

Zhang HaoHead of Supply ChainStart from this example

Zhang runs the supply chain of a consumer goods manufacturer in Hamburg. He worked in Shenzhen and Rotterdam before.

Profile: Supply chain leader with 16 years of experience in Shenzhen, Rotterdam and Hamburg. Since 2021 responsible for the end-to-end supply chain of a consumer goods manufacturer, with 34 staff and a budget of EUR 48m. Cut logistics costs from 7.8 % to 6.4 % of revenue in three years while raising on-time delivery to 96 %. Looking for overall responsibility for supply chain or operations at an international manufacturing or trading company.

Why this works in Germany

  1. The main result is in euros and percent: logistics costs from 7.8 % to 6.4 % of revenue, about EUR 4.1m a year.
  2. Sixteen years, and the oldest job (2010 to 2012) keeps to three short lines. The space goes to the recent roles.
  3. Dutch and Chinese grades stay in their scales (8.1 out of 10, GPA 3.6/4.0), each with an approximate German grade.

German CV templates

Questions people ask

Should my CV be one page or two?

One to two pages. LMU’s career service recommends two pages at most, and so does the Welcome Center Rhineland-Palatinate. With a few years of experience one page is often enough. With many years, as in the leadership examples, two pages are fine.

Do I need a photo like in the examples?

No. A photo is optional in Germany. Jan Becker’s example has none. If you use one, check your CV photo first.

How do I show grades from another country?

Write the grade as it is, with the scale or a short explanation, as in the examples for Leila Haddad (out of 20), Lukas Novák (Czech scale) and Sofia Martínez (out of 10).

How do I explain a gap in my CV?

Give it its own line with month and year and one sentence on what you did, as Arjun Mehta, Rafael Souza and Maria Santos do for the months of their move and German classes.

Are these real people?

No. All people, companies, universities and numbers are made up. Each example is marked as a sample CV.

Can I download an example as Word or PDF?

Yes, after you start from it in the app. With a free account you get one CV in 3 of the 10 designs and download it as PDF. Word files come with a pass. See pricing

Can I start my CV from one of these examples?

Yes. Each example opens in the app with all fields filled in, in English or German. Then you replace the details with your own.
