The (G)ATS Score is the German ATS Score. Paste your CV or add it as a Word file and see in a few seconds how well it fits German expectations and how well applicant software can read it. Free, with every finding shown.
Format and readability, by fixed rules.
Content and language are checked with AI. That runs only in the app.
This check has no job ad: it measures your CV against German CV rules, the same for every job. To see how well your CV fits one ad, save the job in the app: Job match checks your CV against its must-haves, words, languages, years and degree.
Content and language are checked with AI in the app.
(G)ATS stands for German ATS Score. ATS means applicant tracking system: software that companies use to receive and sort applications. These systems use CV parsers that search a CV for certain terms (KIT Career Service, retrieved 30 Oct 2026).
A general ATS check tests whether software can read your CV. The (G)ATS Score also checks whether your CV follows German conventions, because a recruiter in Germany reads it after the software does.
| Area | Points | Checks |
|---|---|---|
| Format for Germany | 30 | At most two pages (three with a doctorate or at executive level), dates as MM/YYYY or MM/YY in one style, name, email, phone and city, gaps of more than three months explained |
| Readable by applicant software | 20 | A headline with your target job, the standard sections (experience, education, skills), no symbols or emojis, clear bullet points, a valid email address |
| Content | 30 | Results instead of duties, a short profile, skills that match your target job, degree with grade |
| Language | 20 | One language throughout, spelling, language levels stated on the A1 to C2 scale, certificates where you have them |
Format and readability are checked by fixed code. The rules are listed below, with their source where there is one, so the same CV gets the same points in these two areas. Content and language are checked by AI against a fixed list of questions, with fixed levels per question, so the same CV gets the same score. Joblumi’s designs always list your entries newest first.
The (G)ATS Score does not read a job ad. It is the same for every job you apply to.

Find my German level| Rule | Source |
|---|---|
| One to two pages | LMU Career Service, Welcome Center RLP |
| Newest entries first, tabular | LMU Career Service |
| At most two columns | KIT Career Service |
| No skill bars, dots or stars | KIT Career Service |
| Text file exported as PDF, not an image | LMU Career Service |
| Language levels stated, ideally in words such as “fluent” | KIT Career Service |
| Dates as MM/YYYY | LMU Career Service |
| Gaps over three months explained, contact details and location, standard section headings | Joblumi rules, so a reader and the software find what they look for |
Two numbers, two questions. The (G)ATS Score checks your CV against German CV rules. Job match checks it against one job ad: save a job with its ad text in the app, and Joblumi rates from 0 to 100 how well your CV shows what this ad asks for.
| Area | Points | Checks |
|---|---|---|
| Must-haves | 35 | What the ad asks for without softening words, checked line by line against your CV |
| Nice-to-haves | 10 | Lines with “wünschenswert”, “von Vorteil”, “idealerweise”, “a plus” and similar |
| Search terms | 25 | The job title as the ad writes it, and up to 15 words from the ad such as tools, methods and licences. An English synonym counts half, because German applicant software searches for the German word |
| Languages | 15 | German and English levels on the CEFR scale. A German ad without a language line counts as business fluent German (C1) |
| Years | 10 | The years of experience the ad asks for, counted from the dates of your jobs |
| Degree | 5 | Vocational training, bachelor, master or doctorate, as the ad asks |
Job match is free for one job and comes with the pass for every job. It needs an account, because the job ad is saved with it. On this page there is no job ad, so this page shows the (G)ATS Score only.

What German recruiters check A clear structure with at most two columns, one for dates and one for content, and no charts or dots to rate skills, because CV parsers search the text for terms (KIT Career Service). The CV should be a text file exported as PDF, not an image (LMU Career Service).
On this page, the check runs in your browser and nothing is sent to us. In the app, our AI provider reads your CV for content and language, deletes it within 30 days, longer only if its safety systems flag it, and never trains on it. Details are in our privacy policy.
A general AI chat can comment on your CV, but its feedback changes each time you ask, and it doesn’t measure your file against fixed German rules. The (G)ATS Score gives format and readability points by fixed rules, so you can see whether a change really helped.
No checker knows which system a specific employer uses or how it is set up. A high score means your CV follows common German conventions and can be read by software. It doesn’t guarantee an interview.
Joblumi’s own target is 80 or more. Below that, the findings show where to gain points.
Yes. The format and readability check on this page is free and needs no account. The full score with content and language is free with an account. Fixing them needs a free account, which covers all fixes for one CV. With a pass, you can fix every CV you create.
Yes. The check reads CVs in English and German. It applies the German conventions in both cases, because the CV is for jobs in Germany.

CV in GermanTwo columns are fine when one holds the dates and the other the content, as in a classic German CV (KIT). The check scores the text of your CV, not the layout. Layouts that split the text into several side-by-side blocks can be read in the wrong order by applicant software, so keep to one column for dates and one for content.
LMU’s career service and the Welcome Center Rhineland-Palatinate name two pages as the maximum. A third page costs points under format. Shorten older jobs first.
